Red Bull savors its double podium in Bahrain

In a Bahrain Grand Prix marked by the exit of Romain Grosjean, Red Bull showed themselves to be in rather good shape. Second after the first turn, Max Verstappen tried to keep pace with Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), future winner, in vain.

« I tried to stay in contact with Lewis without ever being able to really attack him. We weren't aggressive enough with our strategy today and had a very slow stop ».

Obviously disappointed at not having been able to offer a battle to the Englishman, the Dutchman is still satisfied with this second place which he had not tasted since the Eiffel Grand Prix last October. “ It's like that but second place isn't so bad ».

A podium that Alex Albon found again after having climbed there for the first time in his career at Mugello last September. Fourth on the grid, the Thai showed consistency this Sunday and took advantage of the breakdown of Sergio Pérez (Racing Point) three laps from the finish to take third place.

« Obviously I was lucky with Sergio dropping out at the end but yes it was a very good race, smiles the Red Bull driver despite being under pressure, particularly after he left the track on Friday during testing. After (the crash of) Friday the guys did an incredible job getting the car back together. I am very happy with the result.”

In Sakhir, Red Bull placed its two drivers on the podium for the first time since October 8, 2017 and the Japanese Grand Prix.
