Amicable settlement between Ricciardo and his former manager

Daniel Ricciardo confirmed from Suzuka that he and his former manager Glenn Beavis had found common ground in order to resolve the dispute which had opposed them for several months.

Beavis took legal action against his former client at the High Court in London last July and claimed from the latter more than 10 million pounds sterling (11,1 million euros) for sums owed in the framework of the transfer of the Australian to Renault.

The ex-advisor affirmed that he was entitled to receive “ a commission equivalent to 20% of the value of any new contract negotiated and concluded » on behalf of Ricciardo, according to the terms of the complaint reported at the time by our colleague Andrew Benson of the BBC.

Beavis also claimed to have participated in the drafting of the agreement linking the native of Perth to Renault until the eve of the 2019 Australian Grand Prix, despite the wishes of the ex-driver. Red Bull to end their relationship in December 2018.

« Everything is settled now, told Ricciardo in Japan. I can't go into details of course but we met and the matter was agreed. It ends well too, better than I could have imagined a few months ago.

The situation didn't really weigh on me but it could have started to turn out to be harmful in the long run. I don't know how long such a thing can drag on and I didn't need it. I have so much to do with the team and I want to be 100% focused on that.

Sometimes you may feel like you're not distracted by something when in reality you are. These are always potentially awkward situations and I'm happy to move on ».

Ricciardo joined the CAA Sports agency at the beginning of March, which also represents the world champion F1 2016 Nico Rosberg or even the star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.
