It all started with a penalty imposed on Nico Hulkenberg during the last Monaco Grand Prix (May 28), which the Italian manager considered undeserved.

« We still have laymen deciding the fate of people who invest millions in their careers “, he explained last Thursday in Barcelona; which was not to the liking of the sporting powers.

The institution considers that he has crossed the line and accuses him of three strokes of the penknife in the FIA International Sporting Code: acting " detriment to the interests of a competition or the interests of motorsport in general » ; cause a “ moral damage to the FIA, its bodies, its members or its managers, and more generally to the interests of motorsport and the values defended by the FIA » ; and adopt a “ bad behavior towards » officials.

Steiner, who advocates for professional and permanent commissioners, will have to present himself to the commissioners before the qualifying session, at 14:30 p.m. local time.

Over the six Grand Prix weekends that have taken place so far, the F1 called on 16 different commissioners. Among the Monaco GP stewards, Danny Sullivan, winner of the 500 Indianapolis 1985, is the only one to have already participated in an F1 race earlier this season, alongside Tim Mayer, Felix Holter and Jean-François Calm down.

Holster is also a commissioner in Spain – alongside Garry Connelly, Derek Warwick and David Domingo – and recused himself from Steiner's hearing given that he was one of the commissioners in Monaco.

He will be replaced by Matthew Selley, then reinstated after the hearing.

It is true that sometimes, certain decisions cause anger, in the college of decision-makers it is necessary to call on people in the profession (of F1) who have several major prizes to their credit (like Alain Prost or Jean Alesi, etc... ) Because a driver who has only won one grand prix in his career cannot have good judgment. And then we must put an end to all these inconsistent sanctions. And penalize only when there is dangerous driving, with a large price of suspension for example. Regarding the changes of parts on cars with demotion on the starting grid is for me unsporting, why not replace this change of parts on cars with a points system (as for overtaking sanctions ) and then verbalize more or less depending on the classification in the manufacturers' championship. Here, my dear JM Desnoues, is a subject for an article in AUTOHEBDO. Philippe (loyal reader of AUTOHEBDO)
