Following the announcement of the departure of Jolyon Palmer from Renault Sport F1 Team, the Losange confirmed the arrival of Carlos Sainz Jr at the US GP held on the weekend of October 22 in Austin (Texas). The Spaniard, who was initially due to arrive at enstone in 2018, will finally play the end of the season with the French structure.
“It's been a very difficult season and I've been through a lot over the last three years, but it's been some fabulous times with the team. I can be proud of my second part of the season, with my first point in Malaysia (in 2016) and my sixth place in Singapore this year. I wish the best for the team. I will concentrate on achieving the best possible result at the Japanese GP before focusing on my options for my future”, comments Jolyon Palmer.

The departure of Carlos Sainz Jr will allow Pierre Gasly to play the end of the season at Toro Rosso alongside Daniil Kvyat. The Frenchman, however, will miss the opportunity to challenge for the Super Formula title.
