Renault remains optimistic before Spa

The results at mid-season are not great for Renault Sport F1 Team. The stable ofenstone is ninth in the Championship with six points scored before the resumption this weekend at the Belgian Grand Prix where the Viry-Châtillon Power Unit risks suffering on the long straights of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.

Frédéric Vasseur, the team's Team Principal, remains optimistic, keeping in mind that the Losange's objectives are long-term.

“We have improved in the last two or three races but we have to focus on the small details, commented the Frenchman. We need to deepen the settings and strategy, making sure we do a better job than in the last few events. We also need to understand the behavior of the tires a little better. »

“We are progressing on the grid, but we are still more competitive in the race than in qualifying, recalled Frédéric Vasseur. So we have to make progress on Saturdays. We're moving in the right direction, but we need to find those two or three tenths. »

Bob Bell, the technical director of Renault Sport F1 Team, hopes to see his team progress even if he seems to be looking forward to 2017.

“We have a better understanding of the balance and we should maintain our current level, explained the Briton. We have no major developments, but in Spa we should find the progress made during the last two events. We fought against Haas et Toro Rosso and we are able to return to their retros again. Further developments are planned in the second part of the season, but we are mainly focusing on 2017.”
