Robert Kubica aims for the podium

He is on an impressive series of eight consecutive races finishing in the top 10. Indeed, the opening Grand Prix, in Bahrain, is the only one not to have seen Robert Kubica score points. Sixth in qualifying just ahead of Button, the Pole shows that his R30 is increasingly competitive.

But we know that appetite comes with eating. It is now the podium that the 25-year-old driver is aiming for. A podium having escaped him after a pit stop a little longer than that of his opponents.

?I got off to a good start today and was able to maintain my position, explains the person concerned. Then, I had a very nice battle with Jenson Button: I think we spent half a lap side by side! We both managed to pass Webber on the outskirts of turn 8. I was on the inside, Jenson on the outside, and we passed on opposite sides of the Red Bull. Jenson and I passed two more turns side by side and I won the tug of war after a very fun first lap. Then we got lucky when the safety car was deployed: I was heading into the final corner when the message appeared on my steering wheel. So I decided to dive straight towards the pit lane. Unfortunately, we didn't fully seize the opportunity: I was the first car in the pitlane, but the third to leave. If everything had gone well, we would have finished on the podium. Unfortunately, we did not succeed. »

It is finally in fifth position that Robert Kubica will take the checkered flag. A great result allowing him to gain a place in the world championship rankings. Indeed, with 83 points, the native of Kraków takes the advantage over the driver Mercedes GP Nico Rosberg to find himself sixth.
