No one saw that coming! Retired from the Formula 1 since the 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, we thought Sebastian Vettel put away circuits forever. Seb had still left the door open to an occasional return to Suzuka (Japan), his favorite track, in case someone needed it, but that was supposed to stop there.

It seems that the latter has reconsidered his position. According to some indiscretions, the quadruple world champion would have been convinced with the prospect of a return to the wheel for 2026. The German, who developed a very strong ecological, environmental and social conscience during his last years in F1, would be indeed in pole position to become one of the two drivers of the Formula Equal team, which Craig Pollock would like to launch while the FIA has launched a declaration of interests process.

Vettel, driver and team principal?

Frustrated in recent years at not having been able to find the ideal setting to express his convictions, Vettel, who is already starting to find it long away from the circuits, would indeed be excited by the idea of a return to a committed team, which would give pride of place to total parity, both with regard to mechanics, engineers and pilots.

Vettel will be 38 years old at the start of the 2026 season, three years younger than Fernando Alonso today.

In addition to his role as pilot, it is rumored that Pollock could entrust the German with the role of team principal, like a player-coach in football. Enough to also ensure the future for Sebastian Vettel, who will finally be able to express his convictions within the framework of the sport he loves.

All this obviously remains dependent on the acceptance by the FIA and the FOM of the arrival on the Formula Equal grid, but one thing is certain, the multiple world champion seems to be the first big fish caught by Pollock with a view to 2026 .
