Sergio Pérez experienced a “hard to digest” Grand Prix

Racing Point lost everything in Bahrain. In the fight for third place in the constructors' championship, it finished with zero points. Lance stroll first saw his car overturn following contact with Daniil Kvyat. But above all, Sergio Pérez suffered an engine failure three laps from the finish, while he was going for his second consecutive podium.

“A day like this is hard to digest, for me and my team.” regretted the Mexican. “ It is extremely painful at championship level, these points had great value for us and could make a big difference at the end of the season. But there’s nothing we can do about it, that’s the beauty of sport. »

Pérez indicates, however, that this mishap is insignificant compared to the accident of Romain Grosjean. " The podium, the trophy… one more or less, it’s just a cup. The important thing is to see that Romain Grosjean is doing well. It was a big shock to see this crash and to have to return to the track in ten minutes. Not a good day. »

In terms of accounting, Racing Point is now 17 points behind McLaren in the constructors' championship but remains ten units ahead Renault.
