In England, the Scuderia returned to victory for the first time since that of Leclerc in Australia on April 10. But despite the championship position and the Monegasque's superiority on the track, Ferrari chose to favor Carlos Sainz for victory. For what ?

What is Ferrari playing?

Charles Leclerc's frustration was evident in the Parc Fermé © Panoramic

Le Brothers of Italy and the bells of the church of Maranello may have sounded for the first time in two and a half months, but there was an unpleasant smell of incomprehension and unfinished business surrounding Scuderia Ferrari in the air at Silverstone. So much so that his boss Mattia Binotto needed to remind us of this, one evening of victory: “I don't think we can say that it was a difficult weekend for us, when we know that we took pole and won.”. The subject of discord? The sacrifice of Charles Leclerc, on the altar of the first career victory of Carlos Sainz. We are on the 40th lap of the Grand Prix. Esteban Ocon stops on the track and rushes out of the safety car. Leclerc then leads the debates in front of Sainz and Hamilton twelve loops from the goal. We imagine at that moment the Scuderia bringing in the Monegasque, who had the advantage of the position, both on the track and in the field

With hindsight, the repeated strategic errors penalizing Leclerc since Monaco take on another perspective. Another wasted race for the Monegasque and Sainz will be ahead of him in the standings. But what is Ferrari aiming for in the championship? Third place?? Because it is clear that Sainz is not a serious opponent for the Red Bulls. It would be regrettable if an internal squabble at Ferrari killed the championship even before mid-season, by scuttling Leclerc's chances...

Binotto no longer has his place at Ferrari! It has already done too much damage, it must be replaced!

Prost, Raikkonen, Alonso, Vettel and even Schumacher at the end of his (first) career, the scuderia loves to blame those who brought it back to a high level, often before the laurels come to be rewarded.
