Sirotkin 'not really upset' with Hamilton

Sergey Sirotkin, qualified in 15th position during qualifying for the Brazilian GP before the penaltyEsteban Ocon (Force India), made headlines by narrowly avoiding the Mercedes de Lewis Hamilton in Q2. If the Briton seemed to have carried out a dangerous maneuver by moving to the left, the fact that the two drivers were on a preparation lap mitigates the responsibility of the reigning world champion.

Despite Lewis Hamilton's comments against Williams driver, the latter did not show anger against the Mercedes driver.

“Why is everyone asking me about Lewis and not our position? I'm not really mad at him. I had to push on my preparation lap to get the tires up to temperature. We didn't really plan to end up where we were and we lost time dealing with the tires. My exit lap was almost as fast as a flying lap. I was clearly going full throttle and came into the left turn while he was slowing down to prepare for his lap. »

“I moved to the left without even considering that he was going to give me space because he was very slow and I was arriving very quickly, but he saw me at the last minute and tried to avoid me. he left me the trajectory, but I had already positioned myself on the left and so I had to go through the grass and my lap was destroyed”, explained Sergey Sirotkin.

The Russian was not even disappointed by his failed attempt in Q2.

“He’s a champion, he knows what he’s doing and that hasn’t changed my place on the grid. It’s still a good day overall”, added the Russian who had perhaps not yet heard the Mercedes driver’s remarks.
