Clearly, Racing Point is not spared from health concerns this season.
After Sergio Pérez withdrew from the British and 70th Anniversary Grands Prix at Silverstone in early August due to a positive Covid-19 test, Lance stroll will not participate in Free Practice 3 of the Eifel Grand Prix at the Nürburgring.
The Silverstone team confirmed that the Canadian was not feeling 100% this Saturday morning. Stroll will have a health check after the first real driving session of the weekend, with two on Friday canceled due to fog covering the area.
If Stroll were to withdraw from qualifying and therefore the race on Sunday, Racing Point theoretically has an agreement with its engine manufacturer Mercedes to call on the services of the official Star reservists who are Stoffel Vandoorne, present on site, and Esteban Gutiérrez, whose Super License is however no longer active.
In England, the pink team had requested its former driver at short notice Nico Hulkenberg, which could again act as a backup solution. The German had made a good impression at Silverstone and is used to jumping into the seat of a car at the last minute.
UPDATE: @lance_stroll is not feeling 100% this morning and will therefore not participate in FP3. His condition will be assessed after the session to evaluate whether he is fit to drive, at which point the team will confirm plans for Quali.#F1 #EifelGP
