Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) took pole position on Saturday. The Finn will have his teammate as his first rival Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), who will start from second place on the starting grid.
The Red Bull Ring has the particularity of being made up of only 10 turns along the 4,3 km. Overtaking has always been complicated on this track since its return to the calendar in 2014. As such, a third DRS zone has been added on the climb to the second braking.
The hopes of French supporters will primarily focus on Romain Grosjean (Haas). The former GP2 Series champion set the sixth fastest time but will start fifth thanks to to the penalty imposed on Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) for illegally blocking an opponent.
Both Renault will aim for points just like Esteban Ocon (Force India, 11th) and Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso, 12th). Charles Leclerc (Sauber, 18th) received a five-place penalty for replacing his gearbox after free practice.
