A new step forward for F1 ?low cost?

Following the hearing held yesterday, the Paris TGI therefore rejected Ferrari?s complaint, considering that there was no valid reason to block the rule of the budget capped at 45 million euros. In its strategy, Ferrari asserted its right of veto to any change in technical regulations, granted in 2005. On the other hand, the FIA considered that this privilege was no longer valid and that the Team had no reason to impose his law.

This therefore means that teams wishing to participate in the 2010 World Championship have only a few days left to send their application files. The proximity of Friday May 29, the closing date for registrations, was also taken into account by the TGI. The magistrates stressed that it was important that the candidate teams could quickly decide on their future.

Regarding the candidate teams, four new names have just been added to a completely unofficial list for the moment. In addition to Lola, USF1, iSport or Prodrive, we can now count on applications from Wirth Research, Epsilon Euskadi, Campos Racing, RML, Formtech or Litespeed.

Many names of teams unknown to the general public, about which Ferrari did not fail to make irony. “Those who work at Ferrari can't believe it when they see in the press the names of the teams wishing to enter F1,” argues the Scuderia in a press release published on its website. “Among this list, you will not be able to find a famous name capable of encouraging spectators to spend 400 euros for a grandstand seat at a Grand Prix. Is there a World Championship with such teams? with all due respect? would have the same value as the Formula 1 current? Wouldn't it be more appropriate to call it Formula GP3? »
