From follower memory Formula 1, rarely has a retirement been so celebrated among the pilots. On the eve of free practice for the Grand PrixAbu Dhabi, all 20 drivers on the starting grid gathered to say a “goodbye” to the four-time world champion, Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin).
The initiative was born in the spirit of Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) according to a message published by the President of the GPDA (Grand Prix Drivers Association), Alex Wurz. The seven-time world champion shared a moving message on Instagram a few hours after having spoken beautiful words at a press conference.
“We have come a long way as pilots and we continue to grow as men. No matter what happens on the track, we grow and get better every day. Bringing us all together to celebrate Seb's life and incredible career in F1 was honestly an evening that I will never forget. »

All of the future German retiree's peers shared the group photo on their personal social network. Some, like Sergio Pérez (Red Bull) or Guanyu-Zhou (Alfa Romeo), highlighted the “good stories” told around the table, as well as “moments of good laughter”.
Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) was for his part happy to see “a united and great group and fabulous stories”. Note that when taking the souvenir photo, Sebastian Vettel did not place himself in the center of the image in the front row; a new example of his discretion.
Thanks @LewisHamilton to initiate, and thanks all GPDA members to turn up to show respect to one of the greatest, to one of our directors, and ultimately to our sport (which Sebastian Vettel loves so much). too bad it was a great evening as well! #GPDA pic.twitter.com/E1oLSCTSxH

This dinner was certainly finally an opportunity to send a word of thanks to two other competitors who are (temporarily?) moving away from the sport. Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren) and Nicholas latifi (Williams) will be absent in 2023 just like Sebastian Vettel, but both men hope to return in 2024.

The 2 Scuderia drivers don't really show a smile... and they're the only ones!! Concerned by the rumor about the landing of Binotto and the arrival of Vettel?
