While the other three new F1 teams make announcements regularly, USF1 remains surprisingly discreet. On the occasion of the launch of the team's official website, Peter Windsor came out of his reserve.

USF1 remains in the race

Will USF1 be ready on time? This is the question many observers are asking, as the Charlotte-based team is slow to formalize its drivers and communicate on the development of its car. Ross Brawn and Bernie Ecclestone had notably expressed serious doubts about the timing of the American team. If, last month, AUTOhebdo offered you a tour of the Charlotte factory, little has changed since then and it was time for Peter Windsor to break his silence. The co-owner of the team explains it.

« A number of people have asked me why we have been relatively ?calm? over the past six months, Windsor begins. My answer is twofold. On the one hand, the organizers of the F1 had some things to settle and we didn?t have much to say about it. Second, since August we have been building our house. Literally. We emptied the old Joe Gibbs Racing premises then redid everything, repainted, rebuilt? »

« Then, once we had our facilities, we started building our rooms and building our team. Once again we were building. People wanted to know what was going on. We replied that we were setting up the team. It?s like building a new house. You don?t invite family and neighbors over until you have finished the living room and put some plates in the kitchen. »

If he has indeed been very discreet in recent weeks, Peter Windsor regrets that this silence appears as an admission of weakness. And defends himself against it. “ These are the demands of today?s media. Every minute that passes is a step. If you don't say something, people think you're not doing anything. I don?t agree with that. I believe that every person and every business has the right to take their time »

After this first update, Peter Windsor should announce “ very soon » his driver duo for next season. The boss of the Charlotte stable also promises announcements concerning “ many other things ».
