Vergne lacked driving in Sao Paulo

Jean-Éric Vergne failed to qualify for Q2 at the Brazilian Grand Prix and will have to start from 15th place on the grid, two rows ahead of his teammate Daniil Kvyat who had reached the second session but who must complete his penalty following old engine change. If this result is a disappointment for the Frenchman who is trying to convince the management of Red Bull to keep it at Toro Rosso in 2015, JEV is not all to blame since it lacked traction compared to the competition.

After having to give up his place to Max Verstappen during the first practice session, the French driver was almost unable to participate in the second session following a mechanical problem. In total, the Frenchman completed only 34 laps before starting qualifying. “Without having been able to properly prepare for the qualifications, I was not able to exploit the full potential of the car which was difficult to fly. It is not an easy circuit and you can lose a lot of time in certain corners if the balance is not good. Adding in the difficulties with the tires encountered throughout the weekend, the settings simply did not suit me. But everything remains to be done, especially here. »
