Vettel: V6 hybrids are too expensive

Sebastian Vettel expressed its concern about the significant expenditure implemented to develop Power Units in F1. The four-time world champion would like to see the discipline return to a classic engine which would reduce costs and improve the sound of the single-seaters.

“The current regulations on Power Units are too costly and it would be beneficial for all teams and for the sport in general to return to something more conventional.”, commented the pilot of the Team Ferrari. “Everything we try with rule changes doesn't change the main problem and many of the problems are because we've gone in the wrong direction. It’s easy to admit, but we are stuck with what we have. »

“I can't change the rules, and it's a good thing that a driver or someone else isn't able to do that, but the current situation is probably not the best,” added Sebastian Vettel.

The German is an active member of the GPDA which recently published an open letter to F1 shareholders.
