Lewis Hamilton was present this Saturday morning in Australia during the first qualifying session of the 2017 season. The three-time world champion took advantage of a Mercedes W08 in verve on the Albert Park track to score a 62nd career pole position and strike hard against competition led by the Team Ferrari.
Si Sebastian Vettel was unable to completely rise to the level of the No. 08 Mercedes W44, the German driver of the Italian team confirmed the good performance of the SF70H in winter testing in Barcelona, by coming between the two Flèches d' Money, and complete the first line.
Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) and Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) will start from the second row in front of the first Red Bull de Max Verstappen and the surprise Romain Grosjean (Haas), sixth. Esteban Ocon (Force India) will start its first Grand Prix with its new team from 14th position, just behind the McLaren de Fernando Alonso.
Note that Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) is the big loser of the session, after making a mistake in Q3. The Australian will start tenth.
