Virgin Racing makes its revolution

From the first idea to the revelation, ten months passed. Nick Wirth, the father of the VR-01, says: “I had the chance to work with the best designers in F1 and I was able to learn what really mattered in the competitiveness of a car. When we know the conventions of our profession, and of established stables, it is not surprising that our all-CFD approach provokes a certain skepticism. »

Because this VR-01 is the result of research using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software with the aim of reducing blows. “Thousands of solutions have been generated by the technical teams at Wirth Research,” explains Virgin. “Virtually, our pre-season testing started months ago! »

“I really believe in our design technique which allows us to launch a car that is already accomplished,” continues Nick Wirth. “When our drivers begin testing in Jerez, the VR-01 will feel very similar to the one they drove in the simulator. »

First element of response Wednesday February 10.
