Will Stevens lined up by Caterham

The Caterham team achieved a small feat by managing to raise enough funds, between help from Bernie Ecclestone, its crowdfunding campaign (participatory financing) and the various sponsors who have come forward to enable the Leafield team to race in the final in Abu Dhabi this weekend. After announcing the Japanese Kamui Kobayashi during the night from Sunday to Monday, it is the Briton Will Stevens, member of the Caterham Racing Academy, who has just been made official in the second CT 05 powered by the V6 turbo / hybrid Renault.

“I am absolutely delighted to be given this opportunity and am very grateful to everyone involved at Caterham F1 Team for offering it to me, indicates the 23-year-old pilot. I feel up to the challenge on my F1 debut and I'm looking forward to working towards the race after all the work we have done together in the tests I have completed as well as in the simulator at Leafield. Hopefully this will be something we'll be able to carry through into the 2015 season."

Stevens had already ridden in the CT 05 during Silverstone testing last July, accumulating almost 500 km.
