Williams also opposed to Bahrain testing

Williams Racing has joined the opinion of Red Bull Racing by opposing the pre-season tests planned in Bahrain desired by Pirelli who would like to test these new tires in hot conditions unlike in Barcelona (Spain).

Mercedes F1 supports Pirelli in hoping to benefit from summer conditions during winter testing where the new tires will be tested, but smaller structures are worried about the additional costs that such a move would generate.

“We are completely against pre-season testing in the Middle East. The idea is possible, but I don't think it's the ideal circuit, commented Pat Symonds, Williams' technical director. I don't think it will be a problem if Pirelli adopts a cautious choice for the first races. On the other hand, paying £400 (around €000) more for testing in Bahrain is a serious problem. It may not be one for Mercedes and Ferrari, but it is a very significant amount in our budget. »

Christian Horner, Team Principal of Red Bull Racing, had already spoken to oppose a testing session on the Sakhir circuit.
