Williams bankrupt in Monaco

Williams leaves Monaco with a more than disappointing result. In addition to not collecting any points, the Grove team saw its two drivers make mistakes: Nico Hulkenberg after a few hundred meters of racing in the Tunnel then Rubens Barrichello, halfway through the race, in the Massenet bend.

« It was not a good day for the team despite a promising start from Rubens, says Sam Michael, technical director. Nico had a problem with the clutch lever on the steering wheel on the formation lap. Then he had a problem with his front wing on the first lap. »

« As for Rubens, he had a fantastic start and was running in sixth position when he had to deal with poor behavior from his car after his stop, continues Michael. Eleven laps after this stop, he had a problem with the rear of his car. We need to bring all the parts back to the factory before we can identify what caused the problem in both cars. »

Rubens Barrichello, who could finish in the top 6, was disappointed after his accident in the Massenet corner. “ It really is a surprise. I had a good start but the car started to behave strangely after the pit stop. The steering wheel, in particular, did not function normally. The problem got worse and I had my accident. We now need to look at the car to find out where the problem is coming from. »

Nico Hülkenberg was obviously not more satisfied. “ I didn?t have a good start. I encountered a problem with the clutch before the start of the formation lap, which meant I had to start from the back. I'm not really sure what happened in the Tunnel. The car was strange then I hit the wall. That's life. »
