Williams joins Ferrari and McLaren among Concorde Agreement signatories

Present in Formula 1 for more than 40 years, the stable Williams restocks until at least 2025. The Grove team announced this Tuesday evening that it too had ratified the new Concorde Agreements, which will govern the sport for the period 2021-25.

An announcement which follows the press releases of McLaren et Ferrari earlier in the afternoon.

“These new Concorde Agreements represent a major step forward, both for F1 and Williams,” commented Claire Williams, deputy team principal of the eponymous team founded by her father Sir Frank Williams.

We are one of the oldest teams on the grid and are delighted to see the direction the discipline is taking for its new era.

Our expectations were aligned with those of Liberty Media, namely a tighter grid, a more equitable redistribution of income, and the unprecedented introduction of a budget cap.”

Even if its last titles date back to 1997 (Constructors-Drivers double with Jacques Villeneuve), Williams has the 3rd most extensive track record on the grid (9 Manufacturers' crowns, 7 Drivers' crowns, 114 victories) behind McLaren and Ferrari, the other signatories of the day.

The Grove team now hopes that these Concorde Agreements, coupled with the new technical situation expected for 2022, will allow it to accelerate its recovery with the hope of returning to play at the forefront.
