It's the end of an era. Nicholas latifi lost his steering wheel Williams. The Grove stable has indeed announced that she would separate from the Canadian at the end of the current year, after three years of loyal service. Arrived in F1 in 2020 crowned with the title of vice-champion of Formula 2 after four full seasons in the backroom, Latifi has started 55 Grands Prix, and will have scored seven points in total, all in 2021.
He will also remain infamous for his solitary off-track accident in Abu Dhabi in 2021, which completely changed the face of the championship between Lewis Hamilton and Nicholas Latifi. “Even if we did not obtain the desired results with the team, it was still a great adventure”, explained the Canadian in the press release published this Friday morning by Williams. “Getting my first points in Hungary last season will remain an unforgettable moment, and I will move on to the next chapter of my life and career with a head full of memories.”
The team led by Jost Capito has already confirmed Alexander albon for 2023, and indicated that it would reveal the identity of the second pilot soon. According to our information, it is the American Logan sargeant who would hold the rope, provided, of course, that the latter obtains the superlicense. To do this, he will need a minimum fifth place in the championship, while he currently occupies third position.
