Williams wants to keep control for his 2017 duo

The transfer market in F1 still remains open for 2017 with several seats which have not yet been officially filled by the teams. If Ferrari et Mercedes, or Red Bull Racing quickly confirmed their drivers, the possibilities remain open in several teams, notably at Renault or even Williams.

The Grove stable, which is lining up the pair this year Valtteri Bottas – Felipe Massa, has still not officially announced any of his drivers for the upcoming season. However, the Jenson Button rumor is growing on the side of Frank Williams' team, even if the future of the 2009 World Champion is not yet defined, between a departure or an additional season at McLaren.

A situation which does not, however, change the wishes of Claire Williams, Deputy Team Principal, regarding her “line-up” of drivers for 2017. “We keep control of our decision for our pilots, and I am notsitting there waiting for Ron Dennis to make his decision for Jenson, she explains to Press Association Sport.

It would be a great story, but he has to make the right choice for himself, and we have to make the right choice for the team. » Claire Williams also mentioned Sergio Pérez, who remains a potential option.

Jenson Button could return to a team he attended in 2000 for his debut. A departure of the Briton from McLaren would thus leave an opportunity for Stoffel Vandoorne to reach the starting rank in F1 within the Woking team, of which he is the reserve driver.
