Williams wants to keep its new front wing at Silverstone

Williams wishes to keep the new front wing installed on the FW38 of Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas at the Austrian GP for Silverstone (Great Britain) despite the problems encountered by the Brazilian having forced him to start from the pit lane.

“We are confident that we have resolved the problem that forced Felipe from the pits and we hope that both cars will run with the new front wing which obtained positive results during testing in Austria”, says Pat Symonds, Williams technical director F1 team.

After placing its two cars in the top five last year at Silverstone, the Grove team hopes to return to the front after a disappointing meeting in Austria where Valtteri Bottas only took ninth place while Felipe Massa gave up. The British team, which will be keen to shine at home, still has a 33-point lead over Force India in fourth place in the Championship.

“Silverstone is another circuit that is favorable to us. Even though Austria did not deliver the expected result, there is no reason to doubt our potential at home. The weather in Britain has been quite unpredictable over the last month and it could play a role this weekend”, warns Pay Symonds.
