Wolff: “Criticism of Vettel is unfair”

Toto wolff shows sportsmanship by coming to support the opponent Mercedes, Sebastian Vettel, criticisms made of him.

If the Team Ferrari seems to have with the SF71H the car the most efficient on the field, Sebastian Vettel's errors allowed Lewis Hamilton to have a 30-point lead before the Singapore GP played this weekend.

“I'm not completely neutral, but Lewis is for me the best driver of recent years,” said the executive director of Mercedes Motorsport in Die Welt. However, I find the criticism towards Vettel to be unfair. If he has the possibility of winning, he has the ambition to achieve it by adopting the necessary aggressiveness. It requires a lot of courage and his driving style sometimes leads to collisions. But we must not forget that he won four world titles. As with Lewis, we must accept it. »

Toto Wolff might not have had exactly the same speech if the contact between Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton at the Italian GP had destroyed the Briton's race and not that of the Ferrari driver.

“It could very well have been Lewis instead of Sebastian. The Grand Prix would then have been totally different, admitted the Austrian. In the world of cutting-edge technologies that is F1, not everything is decided linearly and rationally. It also plays out with luck or bad luck and coincidences. »

Sebastian Vettel could reduce his delay on the Marina Bay track where he has 4 victories, but Lewis Hamilton is the last winner of the Singapore GP since he took advantage of a big mistake by Sebastian Vettel who collided with his teammate Kimi Räikkönen and Max Verstappen (Red Bull) at the beginning.
