24H: Audi delighted to win at the Nürburgring

The No. 8 Audi R3 LMS of Team Phoenix only started from eighth place on the starting grid for the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring, but the crew of Marc Basseng, Christopher Haase, Frank Stippler and Markus Winkelhock is managed to move up the ranks to take the lead with just under six hours to go. It is a consecration for the manufacturer with the rings which signs a double in the Green Hell with the R8 LMS n°26 of Mamerow Racing of Mamerow-Abt-Ammermüller-Hahne, while the second R8 LMS of Team Phoenix of Fässler- Mies-Rast-Stippler took fifth place.

“We are absolutely delighted with this long-desired victory”, rejoices Dieter Gaas, director of sporting commitments at Audi Sport. “For three years, the Audi R8 LMS has always been the best GT3 at the Nürburgring. Now we have achieved victory by fighting with seven other manufacturers. The last 24 hours have been anything but easy. Our winning drivers and teams performed fantastically by being consistent and making no mistakes. »
