Okayama – Team TOM'S opens the ball, Wadoux close to the points for his first

The No. 36 Toyota of Team TOM'S won the first round of the 2024 Super GT season in Okayama. In GT300, Lilou Wadoux finished in 12th place aboard the No. 45 Ferrari from the PONOS Racing team.

Okayama – Team TOM'S opens the ball, Wadoux close to the points for his first

  • The reigning champions responded from the first race of the season in Super GT! There Toyota GR Supra n°36 from Team TOM'S, titled last year in the GT500, won the opening round in Okayama, at the end of the 300 kilometers of racing.
  • Sho Tsuboi and Kenta Yamashita, who started from pole position, dominated the rest of the field by leading the event from start to finish. The No. 36 Toyota marks a third consecutive success in Super GT, after the victories acquired at the end of last season at Autopolis and Motegi. Moreover, Sho Tsuboi becomes the first driver in history to win three consecutive GT500 races.
  • Toyota scores a double in Okayama as the #39 GR Supra of Team SARD finished second, thanks to Yuhi Sekiguchi
    and Yuichi Nakayama. The GT500 podium is completed by the new No. 100 Honda Civic Type R-GT from Team Kunimitsu, with Naoki Yamamoto and Tadasuke Makino at the wheel.
  • The only Frenchman entered in the premier category of Super GT, Giuliano Alesi finished in an honorable 7th place aboard the second Toyota GR Supra of Team TOM'S, alongside Ukyo Sasahara.
  • Among the GT300s, it was also a Toyota that won the opening round! The #86 GR2 GT from the Muta Racing Inging team, driven by Yuui Tsutsumi and Hibiki Taira, triumphed thanks to a successful tire strategy.
  • For her first race in Super GT, Lilou Wadoux failed to score points. The Amianoise finished in 12th place at the wheel of the Ferrari 296 n°45 of the PONOS Racing team, with his teammate Kei Cozzolino.
