Lilou Wadoux 12th on the grid at Okayama in Super GT

It's at the wheel of a Ferrari 296 GT3 that Cozzolino and Wadoux took part in the qualifying session this Saturday morning in Okayama. Cozzolino took the wheel in Q1, where he managed to finish second in his group. During Q2, Lilou Wadoux set the 15th fastest time out of the 16 cars in his group.

This year, Super GT has modified its qualifying system, notably imposing a single set of tires to be used during the two qualifying sessions and during the first stint of the race.

From now on, the final positions on the grid are determined by the addition of the times of Q1 and Q2. This means that the No. 45 Ponos Racing Ferrari will start from twelfth position on the grid during this Sunday's event, which marks the start of the 2024 Super GT season.

Pole position in the category went to the Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°65 of Team Leon Pyramid, driven by Naoya Gamou and Takuro Shinohara. There Toyota GT86 from muta Racing will start alongside him on the front row, with the duo Yuui Tsutsumi/Hibiki Taira.

Toyota at the forefront in GT500

In the premier category, the GT500, it was the Toyotas that showed the most enthusiasm, pole position going to the reigning champion car, the #36 GR Supra of TOM'S Racing (Sho Tsuboi/Kenta Yamashita). Alongside him on the front row we find another GR Supra, that of Team SARD, driven by Yuhi Sekiguchi and Yuichi Nakayama.

The first round of the 2024 Super GT season will take place this Sunday morning. Departure scheduled for 7:30 a.m. French time, 13:30 p.m. local time, for a 300-kilometer race.
