Alon Day (Chevrolet) took the lead in the first of the two semi-final races of the Nascar Whelen Euro Series at Franciacorta by overtaking pole sitter Frédéric Gabillon (Ford) at the start of the event. The Israeli remained in the lead until the checkered flag where he won with more than nine seconds ahead of the Tepac RDV Compétition rider.
The Caal Racing driver thus achieved his second success of the season, the eighth of his career in NWES, and took the lead in the Championship with five points ahead of Borja Garcia (Ford), ninth, and seven units ahead of Anthony Kumpen (Chevrolet), sixth in the race.
“I'm really delighted with this victory because the race was crazy, comments Alon Day. I was very fast in the dry but I knew that Fred Gabillon is a real fighter. I am happy that our fight was clean. I've probably never had a car this fast. I know this circuit very well having tested here in the past with the team. »
Marc Goossens (Ford) completed the podium after putting pressure on Frédéric Gabillon. The Belgian beat Lucas Lasserre (Chevrolet) who resisted the attacks of Stienes Longin (Chevrolet), first Junior driver in the ranking. Christophe Bouchut (Chevrolet) arrived in 16th place.
