Audi launches the RS 3 LMS for the TCR Series

At the same time as the presentation of the new RS 3 at the Paris Motor Show, Audi lifted the veil on the racing version called “LMS” which will be eligible for the TCR Series. This new car from the Rings will act as a younger sister to the R8 LMS and will be able to compete in several championships and prestigious races such as the 24 Hours of Nürburgring which now host this category.

“The TCR market has much greater potential than the GT3 category, said Chris Reinke, director of Audi Sport's customer competition department. In 2016, we had ten TCR series contested in 18 countries and more series are emerging. With the TCR version of the RS 3, we will be able to approach other countries that do not host GT3 races. »

“The costs of a TCR race are very low, underlined Chris Reinke. As a result, we will gain new customers. We benefit from the experiences gained with the Audi R8 LMS launched in 2009 to support and supply parts that our GT3 customers appreciate. »

The Audi RS 3 LMS will be powered by a 2l 4-cylinder TFSI developing 330hp which will allow it to go from 0 to 100km/h in 4,5s and reach a maximum speed of 240km/h.

Audi Sport will start delivering its first examples in December so that the teams are ready for the start of next season. The RS 3 LMS will be sold at a price of €129 excluding taxes in its TCR version with a six-speed sequential gearbox. A sports club version will also be available at a price of €000 excluding taxes.
