24 Hours of Spa: Martin takes pole with BMW

The Belgians shone on home soil during qualifying for the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. Maxime Martin (BMW) took pole ahead of Maxime Soulet (Porsche).

24 Hours of Spa: Martin takes pole with BMW

The qualifying session was fought until the last moments. Ultimately, it was Maxime Martin who set the best time of the session with a time of 2:24:488 at the wheel of the #4 Marc VDS Racing BMW Z40 which he shares with Bas Leinders and Marc Hennerici.

Maxime Soulet, pilot of the Porsche 997 GT3 R n°75 of the Prospeed Competition with Marc Goossens and Jan Heylen, fails just 0??247 from pole.

In third position, we find the Porsche 997 AutOrlando Sport of Gianluca Roda, Raffaele Giammaria and Paolo Ruberti, the leaders of the general classification of the Blancpain Endurance Series. It is less than a tenth ahead of the Lamborghini LP600 n°24 Blancpain Reiter of Marc Hayek, Peter Kox and Jos Menten.

Behind the #888 Porsche of Westbrook-Menzel-Stursberg-Riegel and the #74 Porsche of van Splunteren-Miller-Sougnez-de Crem, we find the first Audi in seventh place on the grid with the #8 R33 LMS of Ekström-Franchi-Scheider, who had the best time in the first qualifying session.

It is followed by the Ferrari F458 Italia n°50 AF Corse by Gerber-Griffin-Cadei-Cioci. The crew of the Mercedes SLS AMG n°55 of Graff Racing made up of Frenchmen Mike Parisy, Gilles Vannelet, Philippe Haezebrouck and Italian Massimo Vignali took ninth place. She is ahead of the R8 LMS n°98 AST Phoenix of Fässler-Piccini-Rockenfeller.

Hexis AMR places its first Aston Martin DBRS 9 in eleventh position with the n°4 of Makowiecki-Moser-Dusseldorp.

The start of the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps will be given on Saturday at 16 p.m.
