Alessandro Ghiretti named 2021 Porsche junior

In the footsteps of Mathieu Jaminet or Jules Gounon. Alessandro Ghiretti, 18-year-old French driver, has been named junior driver Porsche Carrera Cup France 2021, following a selection between eight young talents aged 15 to 20 via files and tests over two days at Paul Ricard.

Originally from Montauban, Alessandro Ghiretti started in motorsport with F4 France and F4 South-East Asia where he won the title in 2018. The following year, he moved to German F4 with US Racing, where he obtained three podiums. At the same time, the young man had run F3 Asian Winters series. This season, he competed in just one race, driving a Team Virage Michelin Ligier LMP3. Le Mans Cup. “What’s happening to me is a little crazy,” he admits.

Alessandro Ghiretti succeeds Victor Weyrich on the Junior Porsche selection list, who won the title of Rookie champion of the Porsche Carrera Cup France in 2020, with an absolute sixth place in Barcelona for best result.

“Alessandro is very young but he already shows great maturity” commented Patrick Pilet, official driver of the brand and responsible for the program. “He continued to progress throughout the day and particularly surprised us with his ability to adapt. He is sharp and shows great motivation, as well as a certain combativeness. »

Alessandro Ghiretti will compete in the entire Porsche Carrera Cup France in 2021.
