The final round of the first edition of the Blancpain Endurance Series will see eight drivers compete for the crown. But Greg Franchi is the big favorite.

Blancpain / Silverstone: Eight for a title

Following in particular a resounding victory at the 24 Hours of Spa and the flawless consistency of its Audi R8 LMS, the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT became the first team to register its name on the Blancpain prize list. Endurance Series, even before the final round this weekend at Silverstone. It remains to be awarded the Drivers' title, which could also fall into the hands of Vincent Vosse's team.

Indeed, with 79,5 points (i.e. 21,5 units in advance, a victory earning 25 points), on the counter Greg Franchi is for the moment best placed to reap the laurels. This weekend, the Belgian will be supported by Andrea Piccini and Christopher Mies. ?The podium at Magny-Cours allowed the team to secure the title, underlines the main person concerned. But now we have to go to Silverstone to add the Drivers' title. We should behave well there. I try not to think too much about the title, but I must admit that it?s difficult. I have a significant advantage in the general classification, but I still have to give my best. I want to be crowned in style, and preferably with a victory. »

In the event of failure, Vincent Vosse will have another trigger in his pocket, his other trio combining Stéphane Ortelli, Filipe Albuquerque and Bert Longin appearing third in the ranking with 56 points gleaned. “We still have a chance of winning the crown, admits the last named. After two second places in Monza and Navarra, we will do our best to win the last round of the year.

Mais les premiers adversaires de Franchi seront Paolo Ruberti, Gianluca Roda and Raffaele Gianmaria, actuelles deuxièmes du championnat, et qui se partagent le volant de la Porsche 911 GT3 R AutOrlando. Quant à Markus Palttala, qui va se relayer au volant de la BMW Z4 du Marc VDS Racing avec Bas Leinders et Maxime Martin, il est le moins bien placé des candidats encore en lice. Après sa victoire à Magny-Cours, le Finlandais avoue : “My intention is to finish in the top 3, but as long as I have a chance of finishing champion, then I will fight to achieve it. »

The 3 Hour race which will start at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday on the Silverstone circuit promises a great spectacle.
