BMW presents the 3.0 CSL Hommage R

BMW wanted to mark the occasion to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its arrival on American soil. The Munich manufacturer established itself in North America in 1975, exporting outside of Europe for the first time.

On the occasion of the Peeble Beach Concours d'Elegance (California), BMW presented the 3.0 CSL Hommage R which takes the lines of the original version which began running in 1975.

In order to promote the brand in the USA, the Bavarian firm launched IMSA with the 3.0 CSL. The propeller car did not take long to shine since it won the 12 Hours of Sebring (Florida) the same year with Hans-Joachim Stuck, Brian Redman, Allan Moffat and Sam Posey. Other successes were celebrated by the German manufacturer, notably at Laguna Seca (California).
