Mardenborough crash: GT3 and GT4 banned from the Nordschleife

The DMSB (Deutscher Motor Sport Bund), the equivalent of the FFSA in Germany, has decided totemporarily ban events contested on the Nordschleife at the Nürburgring to certain categories of cars following the terrible Jann Mardenborough accident which cost the life of a spectator.

SP7, SP8, SP8T, SP9, SP10, SP and SP-Pro-X will now be banned until further notice, thus implying GT3s and GT4s, while the 24 Hours of Nürburgring are scheduled for May 16 and 17.

“We will no longer be able to be involved in the same way after this accident…”, declared Christian Schacht, director of the DMSB. “The safety of participants and spectators must be a priority. We must also analyze in detail what happened and discuss what needs to be changed. Only after that, the cars will be able to return to the Nordschleife with settings similar to the one involved in the accident. »

Nissan said it was relieved to learn that the two spectators examined had left the hospital. “Jann Mardenborough has also left hospital but remains shaken by the accident. » The GT-R Nismo GT3 has been seized by German authorities. The new documents available on the Web clearly show that the Japanese car took off on the Flugplatz bump.
