From Abu Dhabi to Silverstone

The first round of the FIA GT1 world championship took place on April 17 in Abu Dhabi. The brand new Yas Marina circuit saw the triumph of the Matech Ford GT Romain Grosjean and Thomas Mutsch. The Franco-German duo thus becoming the first winners in the history of the discipline.

This weekend, the entire field of this new FIA world championship will be in England, on the Silverstone circuit, for what will constitute the 2010 Tourist Trophy, the coveted trophy across the Channel.

« I think we should be comfortable, says Thomas Mutsch, the leader of the general classification. Silverstone is also a fast circuit. It's still somewhat different, particularly due to the fact that there are a lot of fast corners requiring significant downforce. But I think our car is really good, as the wind tunnel tests showed. I'm really looking forward to Silverstone, although we have very little time to prepare, but it's the same treatment for all the teams. The route has been modified and we will have to wait to find out how our car will behave in the new section. »

The championship seems to be on good track. In Abu Dhabi, the Fords, Corvettes and Maseratis showed themselves to their advantage. At Nissan, we are already starting to rail against on-board ballast. Silverstone will certainly allow us to see things a little more clearly?
