Ferrari launches the FXX K, a beast of more than 1000hp

Ferrari will present the FXX K next week on the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi, as part of the Ferrari Finali Mondiali (the K for KERS or kinetic energy recovery system used in F1 last year). This experimental model will hit the international tracks in 2015 outside of competition, which allows it to free itself from all the constraints of the various regulations, but only within the framework of a testing program.

Powered by a 12l 6.2 degree V65 developing 860hp and more than 900Nm at 9250 rpm, the Ferrari FXX K will be able to benefit from 1050hp with the installation of the SREC developing 190hp. The engine features new camshafts and a modified exhaust valve with mechanical lifters replacing the hydraulic ones. Among the many modifications, the silencer was also removed.

The SREC has 4 modes:

– “Qualifications” to have maximum performance on a flying lap
– “Long relay” to optimize performance
– “Manual boost” to use excess power as you wish
– “Quick Charge” to quickly recharge the batteries

Significant work has also been carried out on aerodynamics, notably with a larger separator placed 3cm lower, as is the case on the Ferrari 458s entered by AF Corse in WEC. The side skirts extend beyond the rocker panels to isolate airflow from the underbody. The rear has also been carefully reworked. This machine should offer astonishing performance.

The photos of the Ferrari FXX K are to be discovered here.
