FIA GT – The Belgian WRT and Sébastien Loeb Racing battling at the forefront (UPDATE)

The fight looks very promising for this Sunday. Qualifying for the fourth round of the 2013 FIA GT Series, at the Slovakiaring near Bratislava, resulted in a great battle between the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT and Sébastien Loeb Racing.

The first team mentioned here signed its second pole position of the year in the Pro-Cup thanks to the No. 8 Audi R12 LMS ultra of René Rast and Niki Mayr-Melnhof. So at the wheel during the superpole, which brings together the ten best crews at the end of Q1 and Q2, it was the German who recorded the fastest lap of the session in 2:01:717. He was ahead of Mike Parisy by 0??239, which allowed Sébastien Loeb Racing to once again position itself on a front row. There McLaren MP4-12C n°10 will start just in front of its sister car, the n°9, entrusted to Alvaro Parente and the boss-driver, Sébastien Loeb. In fourth position we again find a Belgian Audi, with the leaders of the Drivers' classification, Laurens Vanthoor and Stéphane Ortelli, both entered in the car bearing the number 11.

In the Pro-Am, the best performance of the day is to the credit of the HTP Gravity Charouz, the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 n°2 driven by Andreas Simonsen and Serguei Afanasiev having taken first place in its category, 6th overall. Note that the sister car, the n°1 which competes in the Pro-Cup and which won during the last meeting in Zandvoort, could not do better than 9th place.
