FIA GT Series – Laurens Vanthoor and Stéphane Ortelli champions

This final race of the 2013 FIA GT Series season was extremely competitive from start to finish. It was ultimately the No. 8 Audi R11 LMS ultra of the Stéphane Ortelli-Laurens Vanthoor duo which won with a 1”313 lead over the McLaren MP4-12C from Hexis Racing driven to perfection by the Frenchman Kévin Estre and the Briton Rob Bell, and at the same time won the bonus of €100. After winning the Teams classification, the Belgian Audi Club team WRT also won the coveted Drivers' title.

The podium is completed by the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 of Alon Day-Maximilian Buhk (HTP Gravity Charouz), although only 12th on the grid. After a difficult day for Sebastien Loeb Racing, the #9 McLaren of Sébastien Loeb and Alvaro Parente crossed the checkered flag in fourth position. After study by the commissioners, it is the MP4-12C of the nine-time world champion of WRC which ultimately finds itself in second position ahead of the French team, while the Mercedes of Gravity Charouz finds itself at the foot of the podium. The two penalties occurred to sanction double contact from Alon Day and Kévin Estre on the Portuguese's McLaren.

The Pro-Am category was won by the #25 Lamborghini (Baumann-Proczyk) ahead of the #14 Audi (Ammermuller-Campanico) and the #45 BMW of TDS Racing driven by the French Henry Hassid and Anthony Beltoise. The gentlemen class returns, unsurprisingly, to Ferrari AF Corse n°50 (Leo-Sdanewisch).

In the general classification, the Ortelli-Vanthoor pair won with 132 pts, or 20 better than Sandström-Stippler (112 pts). Nicky Mayr-Melnhof, who still hoped to be titled before this race, was caught in an incident at the start and only finished in fifteenth position two laps behind the leader...The Belgian team of Vincent Vosse and René Verbist still prevailed the first three places in the overall Drivers classification of the 2013 FIA GT Series.
