FIA GT1 / Paul-Ricard: Nissan places

As in qualifying, we seemed to be heading towards a JRM double on the Paul-Ricard circuit. But that was without counting on the enthusiasm of the pilots of the Aston Martin Young Driver. In the final loop, Tomas Enge took the advantage over the No. 22 Nissan of Richard Westbrook following a superb overtake, before his teammate Stefan Mücke imitated him a few tens of seconds later. But today, the star was the No. 23 Nissan GT-R of the Lucas Luhr-Michael Krumm duo, which took the reins of the event at the end of the refueling before escaping. at the head of the race.

“I suffered during the first laps, and stayed behind (the other Nissan JRM, editor’s note) to our pit stop, explains Lucas Luhr. We stayed on the track for one more lap, and I was able to attack because our tires were still in good condition due to the intervention of the safety car. (Aston n°3 exits the track, editor’s note). The mechanics then did a great job, and Michael (Krumm, editor's note) then did the rest. »

“Coming out on top was our goal, continues Michael Krumm. At the start of my stint, it was very hard, and Richard (Westbrook, editor’s note) almost took the advantage on several occasions. I think his tires deteriorated more quickly than mine, and I was then able to widen the gap somewhat. But Lucas and I will be even happier to win tomorrow. Even 4th place brings more points than our success today, so clearly the main objective remains tomorrow's race. »

With 8 more points on the clock, Michael Krumm and Lucas Luhr reduce the gap to 7 points separating them from championship leaders Winkelhock and Basseng, seventh this afternoon. See you tomorrow at 15:15 p.m. for the championship race.
