GT1 – All-Inkl.com titled without the honors

All-Inkl.com and its Basseng-Winkelhock crew win the Drivers and Teams titles at the end of an apocalyptic race. The start of the final event of the season has already been marked by a spectacular accident between the Ford GT40 Sunred of Laurent Groppi and the BMW Z4 Vita4one Racing of Nikolaus Mayr-Melnhof. The red flag was displayed before the race resumed a long time later.

While the battle for the title was fought between the Mercedes SLS AMG of Marc Basseng and Markus Winkelhock and the BMW Z4 Vita4One of Michael Bartels and Yelmer Buurman, the latter attempted an attack to take the advantage over the Mercedes driven by Markus Winkelhock. The German then energetically defended his position by slamming the door on the BMW which hit the wall of tires head-on from behind. The race was stopped on the 27th lap following the accident where Yelmer Buurman did not emerge unscathed as he was taken to the hospital.hospital. The ranking did not change and All-Inkl.com thus won the Teams title while Marc Basseng and Markus Winkelhock were crowned in the Drivers' Championship.

Hexis Racing had an exemplary weekend by taking victory with the McLaren MP4-12C of Frédéric Makowiecki and Stef Dusseldorp, already winners of the qualifying race held the day before. The second McLaren driven by Alvaro Parente and Grégoire Demoustier once again took the last step of the podium, failing behind the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 of Reiter Engineering. The French team thus takes second place in the Teams Championship ahead of Vita4One Racing who experienced a catastrophic weekend.

The stewards of the Donington final have decided to exclude the #38 Mercedes SLS AMG driven by Marc Basseng and Markus Winkelhock from the Championship race. Markus Winkelhock caused a horrific crash when he sent Yelmer Buurman's title-fighting BMW Z4 Vita4One Racing into the tire wall. The Dutchman was taken to hospital after hitting the wall of tires from behind at high speed. Despite this exclusion, All-Inkl.com and the crew of the No. 38 retain the Drivers and Teams titles. Frédéric Makowiecki and Stef Dusseldorp, winners of the two weekend events with the Mclaren MP4-12C of Hexis Racing, missed the coronation by a single point.
