GT1 – BMW scores a double in Slovakia

Starting in pole position, the #4 BMW Z18 of the Michael Bartels-Yelmer Buurman pair won after dominating the race from start to finish. The two men thus consolidate their position as leaders in the championship thanks to the eight points earned in this qualifying race. “ The tires did not deteriorate too much and our lap times were consistent, explains Bartels. I think that was the key to our success today. As I said before, Saturday's points are important for the championship. It's a good day for the team. »

For the first time this season, the Austrian duo of the Vita4One Racing Team, composed of Mathias Lauda and Nikolaus Mayr-Melnhof, reached the podium, allowing the German team to achieve the double. On pace with the leader during the first part of the race, the Mecedes SLS AMG GT3s from the Münnich Motorsport team were left behind at the end of the race. Marc Basseng and Marcus Winkelhock complete the podium at the wheel of the #38 ahead of Nicky Pastorelli and Thomas Jäger.

While fighting for victory in GT1's first visit to Slovakia, Hexis Racing had a difficult race to regain the championship. Frédéric Makowiecki and Fred Dusseldorp finished 9th ahead of the second MP4-12C from the French team driven by Alvaro Parente and Grégoire Demoustier.
