GT1 – Laurent Groppi returns to competition

Titled in the French Championship FFSAGT with Patrick Bornhauser in 2010, Laurent Groppi will participate in the penultimate round of the FIA GT1 World Championship season in the Sunred team's Ford GT. “ It's important for me to return to competition since I hadn't ridden for almost a year, told Laurent Groppi to AUTOhebdo.fr. So I seized the opportunity that presented itself to me. I'm still in shape to drive a race car, but I'll spend Friday adapting to the car and this new team. I don't set any goals for myself other than to progress throughout the weekend. I know the circuit well since I won a second place there in Formula Renault 2.0. »

This weekend, the Thononais will team up with his compatriot Benjamin Lariche, whom he knows very well. “ I was Benjamin's coach when he was in Formula 2. At the start of the year, we had a joint project to race in LM P2 with an Oreca 03, but it did not come to fruition. It’s a great pleasure to be alongside him at the Nürburgring. »

Groppi's involvement with Sunred will not be limited to one weekend as the Frenchman will also be there for the FIA GT1 final at Donington (September 29-30). “ I will finish the championship in order to get back in shape for next year since I hope to get a seat for a full season. »
