Interlagos will host the FIA GT1

If the 1 GT2010 world championship calendar already included a meeting in Brazil (November 26 to 28, 2010), the venue for the Maseratis, Corvette and other GT1 cars was not yet known. Stéphane Ratel and SRO made it official this weekend, one year to the day before the event, that the Interlagos circuit would host the GT1s.

« I am proud to announce that we have reached an agreement to hold a round of the next FIA GT1 World Championship in Brazil next year, declared Stéphane Ratel from Brazil. The reasons that led us to choose Brazil are obvious. Brazil is in fashion, will it host the Football World Cup in 2014, the Olympic Games in 2016? and we have Brazilian drivers in GT1, two very fast drivers (Roberto Streit and Enrique Bernoldi, from Sangari team Brasil). And, of course, the Interlagos track promises a great race. We have everything to gain here. »

In addition, the organizer of the world championship expressed his certainty of seeing six different cars compete next season. “ We will Aston Martin, Corvette, Ford, Lamborghini, Maserati and Nissan, specified Stéphane Ratel. There will be two cars per team, and two teams per manufacturer. This brings us to 24 cars but we are already in talks with other manufacturers to have ten different brands in the future. »
