The BMS in Spa with Romain Dumas

2010 marks the entry into a new era for the 24 Hours of Spa Francorchamps. This year, in fact, the GT1s no longer have their place on the starting grid, the new premier category then becoming GT2. Until now, little information had filtered through regarding the entrants, and more and more, some thought that the field would be moribund. But after AF Corse and BMW Schnitzer announced their presence, the BMS Team Italia reveals that it will field a Porsche 997 GT3 RSR.

After finishing third in the last 24 Hours of Le Mans in GT2, the Italian team is back for a second double round of the clock. But the main surprise does not lie in the commitment of this trans Porschealpine. Rather, it comes from its quartet of pilots, each more talented than the last.

Winner of the event in 2003, to everyone's surprise, at the wheel of a Porsche N-GT (equivalent to the current GT2) which could not claim on paper to be able to compete with the GT1s of the time, Romain Dumas will try to win again on the Ardennes slide.

In his task, the last winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be supported by Wolf Henzler and Jörg Bergmeister. Triple ALMS champion in GT2 and winner of this same category in Sarthe in 2004, the latter is a reference in the discipline.
Wolf Henzler, for his part, won the GT2 title at the end of the Le Mans classic and notably won this same category in the ALMS in 2008.
Finally, this trio of official Porsche drivers will receive reinforcement from Martin Ragginger. The Austrian, aged 22, was part of the Porsche Junior Team last year, and was notably seen at the wheel of the 911 GT3 R hybrid during the last 24 Hours of the Nürburgring.

With a dominant car both in LMS and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a team whose potential is no longer in doubt and four drivers with a more than extensive track record, this Porsche 997 GT3 RSR from BMS Scuderia Italia appears as the big favorite for the next 24 Hours of Spa.
