Maserati GranTurismo MC ready for GT3

The Swiss Team developed the Maserati GranTurismo MC GT3 at the end of 2011. The team led by Guido Bonfiglio carried out its testing program by competing in two events with the new Maserati, the first in the International GT Open at the Hungaroring circuit and the second at Vallelunga as part of the Italian GT Sprint where it won its first race with Pier Guidi at the wheel. The car is preparing for approval by the FIA which will be studied on February 5 and 6 in its final version before participating in the tests organized on the Michelin test circuit in Ladoux where the performance balances will be studied by the Federation.

The chassis and aerodynamic elements of the Maserati GranTurismo MC GT3 were built in carbon fiber for a weight limited to 1230kg. The weight distribution has been reworked with a tank located at the rear seat in a lower position, at the same time allowing the driver's seat to be moved back. The suspensions have simply been reworked in terms of weight and resistance. The engine, from the Quattroporte Evo Superstars, is fitted with a new carbon air filter and redesigned camshafts to achieve a power of 530hp (compared to 460hp for the standard model). The aerodynamics have also been taken care of in CFD, resulting in a front splitter, a rear wing and fins on the front bumper, all made entirely of carbon.

“We wanted to develop the Maserati GranTurismo MC GT3 because we believe it is a winning project that is exciting for all of us”, comments Guido Bonfiglio. “We are fully aware of the difficulties we face with such a project, whether on the track or in the design office. Our direct rivals are manufacturers who directly participate in the development of their cars. We are a small team that has high hopes, dreaming of being invited among these giants of motorsport. »
