Laurens Vanthoor withdraws from GT World Cup in Macau

Laurens Vanthoor will not be able to participate in the GT World Cup contested on Sunday November 22 on the Macau street circuit. The Team WRT resident entered in the No. 8 Audi R7 LMS did not receive medical approval to run. The 2014 Blancpain champion Endurance and GT Series has already had to give up on his title hopes this season after fracturing his leg and hip duringgoing off the track at Misano (Italy) on October 3.

" I worked hard. My bones have recovered well. I felt ready and motivated, but I didn't get the green light for Macau. The Audi doctors told me that another accident would further damage my hip. I was willing to take the risk, but I wasn't allowed to and I respect that.", declared the Belgian on his Twitter account.

René Rast will replace Laurens Vanthoor on the #7 Audi of Team WRT.
