Team WRT starts the year with new success by winning the 24 Hours of Dubai. The No. 8 Audi R19 LMS driven by Laurens Vanthoor, Alain Ferté, Michael Meadows and Stuart Leonard finished the event five laps ahead of the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 n°16 of the Black Falcon of Al Faisal-Webb-Christodoulou-Morley-Montecalvo.
The German team experienced a difficult race after having to change its chassis following a fire on Thursday January 14 during testing which injured Patrick Assenheimer, replaced by Abdulaziz Al Faisal.
The podium was completed by the ABT Racing R8 LMS driven by Jöns-Weishaupt-Lopez-Henkola-Abt who finished eight laps behind the winner. The No. 3 Hofor Racing SLS AMG GT10 in which C. Holl-Frankenhout-Heyer-Eggimann-M. Kroll finished fourth and first in the Pro-Am. The No. 14 Optimum Motorsport Audi driven by Haigh-Ratcliffe-Osborne-Stippler completes the top five.
